Crossroads - Great Arizona Alcohol Rehabilitation

My name is Robin and I am an alcoholic. Though I am not a "graduate" of any treatment facility; the authorities just talked about "jail" when addressing me, I would like to recommend Crossroads in Phoenix as a great Arizona drug rehab and alcoholism treatment facility. I spend a lot of time at Crossroads and I can see that they care and run a tight ship.

When I first moved to Phoenix in 2001, I was looking for men to help me unload the truck. I found out that I was living about a quarter mile from the "men's" Crossroads. They are an Arizona-certified transitional living facility specializing in helping men and women recover from drug addiction & alcoholism.

I obtained the two men and they were a great help. Thus began a seven-year relationship with Crossroads. See... I don't like doing housework or yard work. So I go to Crossroads and pick up a couple of residents on a Saturday. I work with them and we talk Alcoholics Anonymous principals & recovery while getting my chores done much quicker.

I also have been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings there during that time too. I have even come to know the staff. I guess they have judged me "harmless" and let me hang around. There's a really cool garden area that even has a fish pond. There're always some other Arizona AA members or Arizona drug rehab residents sitting around. I can enjoy some relaxing conversation among friends.

If I get hungry, there's a cantina right there. I can duck in and grab some AA coffee or breakfast, lunch or dinner. Then I can take that back out into the garden.

If you're even thinking of getting help for drug addiction or alcoholism, Crossroads is a great place to go. I have eyes and ears and can see and hear for myself that they know what they're doing and care. And you'll never meet a funnier cast of characters! And that's because it's not doctors, therapists and nurses running things at Crossroads but people who have recovered from drug addiction & alcoholism themselves.

Crossroads has my stamp of approval.

Bill W. Recounts Birth of Alcoholics Anonymous

Play the above video to hear the voice of Bill W. himself recounting how he met Dr. Bob and Alcoholics Anonymous was born. Bill had worked with other alcoholics from being affiliated with the Oxford Group. On a business trip he was gripped with the desire to drink. It was in the hotel lobby where he was staying that he put together the *secret* to AA: one alcoholic talking to another. This has become the 12th Step of Recovery in AA- spreading the message.

I attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, at Crossroads in Phoenix, Arizona, regularly. At all AA meetings, we talk about the Twelfth Step. This is what helps keep us sober; carrying the message. Listen to the above recording and hear Bill himself recount how AA was born and then spread to the world.

AA 5th Step Tomorrow

My name is Robin and I am an alcoholic. Tomorrow, I am doing an AA 5th Step with one of my pigeons. He's been a hard case, always going back out; usually on the weekends. It was pissing me off and I wanted to cut him loose. But my Sponsor, Art, told me that I was going to take him back as many times as was needed for success.

About a month ago, it was coming up on the weekend and I was wondering how I was going to help keep my guy out of the dope house. He had a pretty bad meth addiction going on. I was going to go camping in the Arizona Mountains, by myself, and I decided to ask him to go. I figured that he couldn't find any dope 8,000 feet up. He agreed to go.

We experienced a great weekend together and had a lot of fun. We went hiking in the canyons and buttes around Sedona. He's Native American and knew quite a bit about the plant life and surroundings. He showed me a plant that would cause hallucinations and violent sickness if eaten. I told him that was "useful information" and would be sure to not eat any stray plants that I came across. We did a lot of just sitting around and talking. I have pasted a picture of (near) where we went camping into this message.

Anyway, it's over a month later and he's still clean and sober. I told him that I would never take him camping again if he screwed up. And we're doing that AA Fifth Step!

Later, I am going to Phoenix alcohol recovery facility, Crossroads, to attend an Alcoholic's Anonymous meeting. I also like hanging out there. It has a cool garden area and good coffee.

Dr. Jung & Early Alcoholics Anonymous

My name is Robin and I am an alcoholic. Welcome to the sober 360 blog! I celebrated ten years clean-and-sober yesterday! I spoke at the North Scottsdale Fellowship Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was a very special day for me, causing me to reflect greatly upon my life and place in the universe. The last ten years have been a great gift and I owe it all to the 12 Steps of AA.

I was recently thinking about the relationship that Dr. Carl Gustav Jung played in the Genesis of Alcoholics Anonymous. I know that Dr. Jung was a great friend and supporter of early AA. I also think that Dr. William D. Silkworth, author of The Doctor's Opinion, corresponded with Dr. Jung extensively.

I found this really cool video on YouTube that speaks about Dr. Jung and his contribution to early AA.

Sober360 Blog - Crossroads, Arizona Drug & Alcohol Recovery

My name is Robin and I am an alcoholic. Welcome to the new Crossroads, Sober360, Blog! Tomorrow will be my 10th anniversary. I have been involved with Crossroads for six years. As soon as I moved to Phoenix I began attending Phoenix AA meetings there. Awhile back, my current job's office was there and I used to go to Crossroads to eat lunch and attend the noon alcoholic's anonymous meeting.

Crossroads is a great place to find sobriety in Phoenix, Arizona. I like eating lunch there because it affords me the opportunity to meet my friends and hang out. I found my current AA Sponsor, Art T., there. That was a blessing.

Recently, my office has moved to Paradise Valley and I don't get over to Crossroads as much. I've since moved my noon meeting to the Scottsdale Fellowship Group.

Anyway, welcome to the blog!
