Bill W. Recounts Birth of Alcoholics Anonymous

Bill had worked with other alcoholics from being affiliated with the Oxford Group. On a business trip he was gripped with the desire to drink. It was in the hotel lobby where he was staying that he put together the *secret* to AA: one alcoholic talking to another. This has become the 12th Step of Recovery in AA- spreading the message.

I attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, at Crossroads in Phoenix, Arizona, regularly. At all AA meetings, we talk about the Twelfth Step. This is what helps keep us sober; carrying the message. Listen to the above recording and hear Bill himself recount how AA was born and then spread to the world.
