AA 5th Step Tomorrow
My name is Robin and I am an alcoholic. Tomorrow, I am doing an AA 5th Step with one of my pigeons. He's been a hard case, always going back out; usually on the weekends. It was pissing me off and I wanted to cut him loose. But my Sponsor, Art, told me that I was going to take him back as many times as was needed for success.About a month ago, it was coming up on the weekend and I was wondering how I was going to help keep my guy out of the dope house. He had a pretty bad meth addiction going on. I was going to go camping in the Arizona Mountains, by myself, and I decided to ask him to go. I figured that he couldn't find any dope 8,000 feet up. He agreed to go.
We experienced a great weekend together and had a lot of fun. We went hiking in the canyons and buttes around Sedona. He's Native American and knew quite a bit about the plant life and surroundings. He showed me a plant that would cause hallucinations and violent sickness if eaten. I told him that was "useful information" and would be sure to not eat any stray plants that I came across. We did a lot of just sitting around and talking. I have pasted a picture of (near) where we went camping into this message.
Anyway, it's over a month later and he's still clean and sober. I told him that I would never take him camping again if he screwed up. And we're doing that AA Fifth Step!
Later, I am going to Phoenix alcohol recovery facility, Crossroads, to attend an Alcoholic's Anonymous meeting. I also like hanging out there. It has a cool garden area and good coffee.
"Therefore nothing can matter more to the future welfare of AA than the manner in which we use this colossus of communication. Used unselfishly and well, the results can surpass present imagination."
